This weekend the Motor Enthusiast’s Club (MEC) will host Mondello’s celebration of 45 years since it’s first race event. Mondello have organised a weekend with events in the Museum and also on track. There is an entry of just €4.50 to the track all weekend and free if you are in a Mini!
We will have a busy weekend with a strong grid contesting rounds 5 and 6 of the 2013 Championship. Most notably, Sonya Fildes makes a return to the Irish Strykers for her first outing in a number of years. A welcome addition back to the grid. Colin Deering has also been testing in Mondello Park lately and it is hoped that he will feature the entry list when we arrive to the track on Saturday 8th of June for testing.
Our friends at Octane Track Days have been a feeding pool for growing race classes over the the last few years, with some of their track day drivers making the leap into competition through the ITCC, Formula Vee, Patch Fiestas and the Irish Strykers. This weekend will see Colm Divilly join the Strykers for his first competitive event. Colm is perhaps better known for hustling his Honda Accord Estate around Mondello Park’s International Track rather than battling through a grid of sports cars around the National track. A focused track day driver who enjoys getting every bit of performance out of their daily driver – we could have written this intro for Brian Kingston a few years ago!! Colm is no stranger around the Strykers on race weekends but it will be great to see some photo’s of him on track for a change. Best of luck Colm!
